WHAT ARE PATIO DOORS

Patio doors are sliding doors - typically two panels, where one slides behind the other to open. Unlike bi-fold doors, they don't fold or stack; the fixed panel stays in place while the sliding panel moves across it.

This makes them a great option for tighter spaces, or anywhere you don't want the door swinging outward into a patio or seating area. They're also very easy to use day to day, which is why they've stayed popular in Norfolk homes for decades.

Why choose patio doors for your home?

Simple, clean operation

There's nothing complicated about a patio door. Pull the handle, slide it open. No folding mechanisms, no stacking panels - just a smooth, wide opening onto the garden.

More light, even when closed

A patio door is mostly glass, which means your room stays bright all day. If your current back door is solid or has only a small, glazed panel, replacing it with patio doors makes a noticeable difference.

No swing clearance needed

Because the door slides rather than opens outward, you don't need to keep the patio area clear. Furniture, planters, raised decking - none of it gets in the way.

Secure and weather-resistant

Our patio doors come with multi-point locking as standard and frames designed to keep draughts and rain out. Properly fitted, they perform well in the kind of weather Norfolk throws at you.

Low maintenance

Both uPVC and aluminium patio doors are designed to be looked after easily. Wipe down the frame, keep the tracks clean, and they'll work smoothly for years.

uPVC or aluminium - which is right for you?

We fit patio doors in both uPVC and aluminium, and the right choice depends on your home and what you're looking for.

uPVC patio doors

uPVC is the most common choice, and for good reason. It's cost-effective, very well insulated, and requires almost no maintenance. Modern uPVC doors come in a wide range of colours - not just white - so they can be matched to your home's existing style. A solid, practical option for most properties.

Aluminium patio doors

Aluminium frames are slimmer than uPVC, which means more glass and a cleaner, more contemporary look. They're particularly well suited to modern extensions and properties where the aesthetics matter as much as the performance. Aluminium is also extremely durable and available in a wide range of RAL colours.

Styles, sizes & glass options

Two-panel or three-panel

Most patio doors have two panels - one fixed, one sliding. Wider openings can accommodate a three-panel configuration with a larger sliding section. We'll advise on what works best for your opening.

Which side slides

You choose whether the sliding panel moves to the left or right, so the door fits your space rather than the other way round.

Colours & finishes

uPVC patio doors come in a range of wood-effect and solid colour finishes. Aluminium doors are available in a range of colours, including popular choices like anthracite grey, slate grey, and whites.

Glazing

All our patio doors come with thermally efficient double glazing as standard. If you want additional privacy glass, solar control glass for south-facing aspects, or enhanced acoustic glazing, we can talk you through those options too.

Replacing old patio doors?

If your current patio doors are stiff, draughty, or just looking tired, replacing them is usually more straightforward than people expect. We handle everything - removing the old doors, installing the new ones, and leaving the area clean and tidy.

People typically come to us because their current doors:

  •  Are hard to slide or getting harder to operate
  • Let in cold air, noise or condensation
  • Look dated or have frames that are discoloured or warped
  • No longer feel as secure as they should

We'll assess your opening and talk you through your options before anything is committed.

How much do patio doors cost?

The price depends on the size of the opening, the material (uPVC or aluminium), your choice of colour and glazing, and the complexity of the installation.

We don't do off-the-shelf pricing because no two homes are the same. What we do offer is a clear, itemised quote with no hidden extras and no pressure. You'll know exactly what you're getting before you decide.

FAQS

  • What's the difference between patio doors and bi-fold doors?

Patio doors slide - one panel moves behind the other, leaving roughly half the opening clear at any one time. Bi-fold doors fold back on themselves, opening up the full width of the frame.

Patio doors suit tighter spaces and more traditional styles; bi-fold doors are better when you want to fully open up a room to the garden.

  • Do you fit patio doors in uPVC and aluminium?

Yes. We supply and fit both. uPVC is generally more cost-effective and very well insulated; aluminium offers slimmer frames and a more contemporary look. We're happy to talk through which suits your home better.

  • Can patio doors be fitted in an existing opening?

In most cases, yes. If you're replacing existing patio doors, we'll fit the new ones into the same opening. If you're creating a new opening, we'll advise on what's involved.

  • Are patio doors secure?

Yes. Our patio doors come with multi-point locking systems as standard, and anti-lift devices are included to prevent the panels being lifted out of the track from outside.

  • What colours are patio doors available in?

uPVC patio doors come in a range of colours including white, grey and wood-effect finishes. Aluminium patio doors are available in most RAL colour - anthracite grey, black, white and slate are particularly popular at the moment.

  • How long does patio door installation take?

Most patio door installations are completed within a day. We'll give you a clear timeframe before we start.

  • Do you have a patio door showroom near me?

We have showrooms in Norwich and Cromer where you can see patio doors and talk to our expert team, who can talk you through all the options - before making a decision.

  • Do you cover all of Norfolk?

We're based in Norwich with a second showroom in Cromer, and we fit patio doors across Norfolk and into North Suffolk. Get in touch to confirm coverage for your area.
